House

I'm watching House and thinking about our new house. We went and looked at houses this weekend. We found one we've all agreed on, and will probably but a bid in on tomorrow. I'm calm at this moment, but have been on a roller coaster about this whole process. It should be exciting, but it's been an ordeal. I know I'm just stressing about things beyond my control. Anyway, just wanted to check in. I'm still here! :)

My New Boyfriend

I have a three-year-old that comes to see me on Fridays. When he first started coming in December, he would have absolutely nothing to do with me...would *not* talk, hid under the table, etc. Over the months, we've become friends and we talk and play now. I knew I had "made it" when I received this picture. Clearly, this is Batman, Superman, and friends.
His favorite are the cars and blocks. We build big block towers and knock them down with the cars. I have my bins labeled and got everything back into the wrong bins today. Not ok with me. :)
I also watched our Pre-K class for about an hour today while their teacher was at a funeral. It's been storming all day, and after a particularly loud clap of thunder, one of the boys said "Jesus is talking to us!"
I guess due to the constant rain today, everyone thought the world was coming to an end so Wal-Mart was packed (we needed coffee!). Luckily, I had my Kindle to read while standing in line! Gotta love it!

It's Here!!

Yep....Here it is!!
This is on the side of the box....isn't that clever!?

I love this packaging.

Ta-dah! Hubby as Vanna.
Downloaded a book in a minute and I'm off to read. Good bye!

A Tiny Week

Here's the sheet we worked on this week. It is a neat "growing flower." The little images are the directions on how to put the seed, stem, and flower together.

But I have a student who likes to cut out the "baby" one. She has a thing about babies. That was the first tiny thing that happened this week.
Tuesday, in my going-back-to-school stress, I went to Taco Bell for lunch and got this tiny mint.
And today, one of my students' mom brought their tiny dog up at dismissal! Isn't he a cutie. Not my style, but cute nonetheless.
I am centering all these picts in hopes that it will stay in alignment. Thank you whoever said that, I can't remember right now.

A Great Spring Break

10 Great Things I did on Spring Break 2009

1. Exercised

2. Finished 7 IEPs

3. Painted my toes and wore flip flops for the first time this year.

4. Planted some new flowers.

5. Completed 49 progress reports.
6. Read books (and ordered my new Kindle!!)
7. Started a quilt for my expectant mommy friend.
8. Finished 2 Power Points and downloaded bunches of research articles on my new hard drive (on my new Office 2007and new external hard drive, thanks honey!)
9. Watched my son hone his skateboarding skillz at the skatepark.
10. Relaxed.
The two things I didn't get to: washing the car and practicing the cello.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this alignment problem? I have it all laid out nicely and then it does this. I fix it, it still does it.

Spring Break, Day 2

Sorry, I thought I had been posting comments, and I guess my cookie is disabled or some such thing. Disabled cookies...interesting.
Well, I didn't get my list completed yesterday, but I've almost done it all now. Except for washing the car and practicing my cello. But I am getting a lot done. Only one more IEP to do, and then I can start on progress reports. I'll be meeting a friend for lunch on Thursday to discuss our first presentation for class...Olive Garden...MMMmmmMMM.
My daughter stopped by to say hi. It was good to see her.

Spring Break

Well, it is my first official day of Spring Break. I have a really long (really) list of things to do.

Here's what I hope to get accomplished today:
1. Work out
2. Work on school stuff for about 2 hours
3. Take my sewing machine to another place to see if we can get it fixed and stop by Hancock's for fabric for two baby quilts I need to start on. Deposit checks, send off my taxes, go by the pharmacy
4. Practice my cello that hasn't been touched in approximately three years
5. Start cutting the quilts
6. Wash my car

I'm a list person. I like to write things down so I can cross them off. I've even been known to go so far as to write it down *so* I can cross it off! Yeah, I know....It's just what I do.

On another note, a dear friend has started blogging! Let's welcome her! I say she's a dear friend. We haven't talked in ages. I am a terrible friend, but she is one of the sweetest, kindest, most positive people I knew. I don't think I ever saw her upset about anything. And she's pretty. And she has two *sweet* kiddos! Ok, I'm starting on number one now. Have a great day!

Spring

Sorry I haven't had any pictures lately. I'm lame, no other excuse! :)
Spring is upon us, even though today is chillier than yesterday. I jogged/walked yesterday and it felt so good. I really need to get rid of this belly, but I like food too much. I'm thinking about joining the exercise class my friends are in, but it's so late in the evening. It is true about going with other people. I thought I would be able to keep myself going to the gym, but that's not working out so well for me.
The birds are chirping outside my open classroom window today and it's hard to do any work.

On another note since the kindle longshot worked out, anyone familiar with Audible?

Oh, and my dog is having surgery today. Expensive surgery. Sigh.....

Hope all is well in your world!

Obituary

Here is the obituary of my friend. Turns out it was last month, not last year. Somehow that's worse. I was three weeks too late to say good-bye.

Earthquake

We had an earthquake here this morning. We had a couple last year, but I didn't feel them. This one actually woke us up. It sounded like a huge tree hit the house. It didn't feel like shaking, what you think it would and the only thing out of place was our antique Texas license plate on the porch. haha...

Sad

I've been listening to a book on tape (CD) by Portia Iverson called Strange Son. It is about her child with Autism and another mother and son she meets and their plight. I finished listening to it this afternoon while at the skate park. I listened to the majority of it with skepticism, even talking back to it at times. I knew it wasn't going to be a miraculous 'healing' or anything at the end, but it ended rather abruptly and made me very sad and left me with many questions. I may try to read the book as well as the CD said it was abridged for audio.

Also, I found out that one of my best friends from college passed away last year. Another thing that is very sad and has left me with lots of questions.

And, the little dog is sick. Lethargic, not wanting to stand.

Friend Request

Hi all...sorry I've been lame this week. I have a feeling it's going to be more and more like this as school moves on. Homework, presentations, papers, then work stuff, IEPs, meetings, etc. I think I'm going to take two back-to-back statistics classes this summer, too. You probably won't hear anything from me for that entire month! Plus, I've had another little diversion this week. Facebook. I have fought it. I really have. I'm a loyal person, so I've had my little MySpace and liked it. Well, I kinda got a Facebook page accidentally, but a couple of weeks ago a friend from high school found me, and it just snowballed from there. I now hope to spend my entire Spring Break visiting anyone from high school and college within driving distance. Oh, well, except I really should spend Spring Break on all those presentations, IEPs, and my paper.
I tried not to like Facebook, but I do. I do not have time for this.
Come find me!

Happy 90th

Last weekend (I know, I'm behind. Pics were in hubby's camera) we traveled to Texas for my husband's grandmother's ninetieth birthday party! Here she is with her four children (isn't she beautiful!?). My mother-in-law is on the top right.

Her cake. I didn't have any, but enjoyed smelling the carnations on top.

Here's a neat montage of pictures.

And I wanted this little girl's outfit. Isn't it the cutest? I couldn't help snapping this classic picture of brother picking on sister. hee hee
